Song Details Excerpts from the Cock Crows at Sunrise
The Devil Gives Us House and Home:
Kind of a Latin Playboys riff, I thought this recording was really close, but could be better if done by a group live. I recorded all the instruments and it's just a little flat from what I wanted, not enough air around the music. The new CD was recorded mostly live with a great group of musicians and that's really how I prefer to do things. I like this recording though, just not quite there.

The Cock Crows at Sunrise:
The unused title track of the forthcoming CD. A scene setter, a story told form the point of view of a down and outer living on a big river. Musically ripped off from Delta Blues and Tony Conrad's work with Faust. Great drone work by Jonathan Segel. I play it live as a 6/8 blues, it'll resurface on CD down the road.

Why The Lone Wolf Howls:
A two chord blues based on an old bluegrass tune. Features the Moore Brothers on backing vocals and Doug Hilsinger on lead guitar. Held because there wasn't room.

A Long Way Back From Here:
Not really a keeper. This is one of those songs you sacrifice to the song god when you're writing to keep them satisfied. The Cock Crows at Sunrise clocked in at 63 minutes, this was the first and easiest of the 16 songs recorded to cut.
